NEW YORK, N.Y. (March 30, 1999) -- American Airlines and The Shubert Organization have announced a new association making American Airlines the official airline of The Shubert Organization.

Gerald Schoenfeld, chairman of The Shubert Organization, and Thomas Gleason, American Airlines regional vice president, made the announcement at the Winter Garden Theatre, home of "CATS", the longest-running show in the history of Broadway, a Shubert production. To mark the new alliance a plaque was mounted in the theatre lobby. Identical plaques will be mounted in the lobbies of all 16 Shubert Theatres on Broadway.

Schoenfeld noted, "We welcome American Airlines as a partner with a commonality of marketing and promotional interests."

Gleason commented, "The Shubert Organization will allow American Airlines to build another bridge from Broadway to the rest of the world."

The Shubert Organization will provide opportunities for participation in ventures at its Broadway theatres. American Airlines will provide an outlet for Shubert promotional materials at American locations systemwide. Both entities will continue to explore additional marketing opportunities.
