(New York, NY) Tony Award nominee Jennifer Simard will play “Cindy Lou Who” in the world premiere of Matthew Lombardo’s Christmas comedy in couplets, WHO’S HOLIDAY!, to be directed by Carl Andress. The strictly limited 9 week engagement will be presented at New World Stages - Stage 1 beginning Wednesday, November 2nd through Monday, January 2nd 2017. Opening night is scheduled for Wednesday, November 16th.

The story involves a middle-aged Cindy Lou Who, now residing in a beaten down trailer in the snowy hills of Mount Crumpit. As she prepares to host a Christmas Eve party for her friends, she recalls from her own perspective that fated night when she first met the Grinch, and the strange turn of events her life has taken for the past 40 years. Lombardo’s hysterically funny, wildly irreverent, and heartfelt parody is an absolute must-see for adult theatre-goers this holiday season!
The Tony Award winning design team includes David Gallo (sets) Ken Billington (lighting) and Jess Goldstein (costumes). Sound design will be Bart Fasbender and wigs will be designed by Charles LaPointe.
Jennifer Simard, who was recently announced to join the cast of Hello Dolly in the spring, is a Tony Award nominated actress who has been making New York audiences laugh for over twenty years. Jennifer just wrapped her 2016 Tony award nominated turn as Sr. Mary Downy in Disaster!, for which she received rave reviews. In addition, she is a four time Drama Desk, three time Drama League and one time Lucille Lortel Award nominee. Other Broadway credits include starring opposite Mo Rocca in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, as well as the original companies of Sister Act and Shrek - The Musical. Off-Broadway credits include the original casts of Forbidden Broadway SVU, The Thing About Men, and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. In addition to being one of Broadway and Off-Broadway's best loved actresses, Jennifer has also been seen on both the large and small screen. Movie roles include The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, Wish You Were Dead, and a recent cameo in Sisters along with a bevy of Broadway favorites. On television, she has enjoyed roles on "The Good Wife," "Law & Order," "Law & Order SVU," "The King Of Queens," and will soon appear in an upcoming episode of "Younger" starring Sutton Foster.
Playwright Matthew Lombardo has a history of writing strong leading roles for women having penned the plays Tea at Five for Kate Mulgrew, Looped for Valerie Harper (which garnered her a Tony Award nomination) and High for Kathleen Turner. Director Carl Andress is mostly known for directing Charles Busch plays including The Divine Sister, Die! Mommy Die! and The Third Story.

MATTHEW LOMBARDO (Playwright) Broadway: High with Kathleen Turner at the Booth Theatre and Looped starring Valerie Harper in a Tony nominated performance at The Lyceum Theatre. Off-Broadway: Tea at Five (w/ Kate Mulgrew) at the Promenade Theatre (IRNE Award Winner – Best Solo Play); Mother and Child (w/ Ann Wedgeworth) at Second Stage; End of the World Party at the 47th Street Theatre (director) and Guilty Innocence at The Actors’ Playhouse. Television: Another World (WGA Nomination for Outstanding Achievement). Film: High (currently in development with OmniMedia Arts). Regionally his work has been produced at such prestigious theaters as Hartford Stage, American Repertory Theatre, Seattle Rep, Arena Stage, Pasadena Playhouse, Cincinnati Playhouse, Repertory Theatre of Saint Louis & others and his last three plays have all enjoyed National Tours. As a producer, he has presented concerts throughout the country for Broadway legends such as Carol Channing, Patti LuPone, Tommy Tune, Billy Porter, Betty Buckley, Andrea McArdle, and Faith Prince. He is currently adapting One Hundred Million Miracles for the stage based on the book by Paul Ford.
CARL ANDRESS (Director) has directed the world premieres of several critically acclaimed plays written by and starring Charles Busch, including The Divine Sister (Soho Playhouse, Bucks County Playhouse), The Tribute Artist (Primary Stages), The Third Story (MCC Theater, La Jolla Playhouse), Charles Busch’s Cleopatra, Judith of Bethulia, the annual Times Square Angel (Theater for the New City), Queen Amarantha (WPA Theatre), Shanghai Moon (Drama Dept., Bay St. Theater), as well as the New York production of Die!
